Achievement Day

Student Achievement Testing is a Michigan Music Teachers Association (MMTA) program, administered locally by KAMTA every spring. Students participate by learning three memorized pieces to play for a judge. In addition, students take tests in theory, aural awareness, technique and sight reading. Locally, SAT is non-competitive, but if a student receives a high enough score, he/she is eligible to play at the MMTA state semi-finals at which winners are chosen, and those winners go on to play at the state finals.

The Guild Piano Auditions, held each May, provide the opportunity for an end of year examination of performance, musicianship and/or composition. Students present 1-20 memorized prices in an adjudicated recital format. All students receive some sort of annual recognition, while teachers may receive an assessment of their teaching skills.
