KAMTA is a professional organization for instrumental and vocal teachers whose primary goal is to inspire and motivate their students to reach their full potential as musicians.

KAMTA:

  • Welcomes any teacher of music regardless of educational background or teaching experience. Students of all ages/levels, with a variety of musical goals can be found thriving with KAMTA teachers.

  • KAMTA is a local affiliate of the Michigan Music Teachers Association (MMTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Membership at all 3 levels is required for full access to all benefits and opportunities. One year of free engagement with all local activities is offered as an opportunity to try out the organization.

  • Monthly professional development programs are offered at WMU.

  • KAMTA membership can help generate student referrals and help with student retention.

  • The excellent facilities of WMU, including Steinway concert grand pianos, are used for local events. Events for students desiring more advanced competition are available at the state and national level.

  • Other benefits of membership include insurance programs, printing discounts at Office Max/Depot, a subscription to American Music Teacher, and opportunities for professional development both online and face to face.
